Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On feb6, I spiral brokefractured my fibula just above ankle. Spent 4 weeks in hard cast and 4 in a boot. It s 8 weeks and a day. I am still using crutches for stability only and walking for the most part but when i come home it s so swollen and like a cherry red color. I elevate every night and ice but when I come home daily it s the same routine. The foot and ankle are stiff as well. I get next set of X-rays on Thursday and see doc. Will I need physical therapy and will I be healed by Thursday, do u think?
Physiotherapy would definitely be useful and it is not likely that it will be healed in a few days unfortunately. Physiotherapy would help with the stiffness.
Veins and surrounding soft tissue are still recovering from the fracture and you would still have episodes of swelling occurring due to persisting inflammation. The exercise in the physiotherapy may also improve the flow in the veins
I hope this helps
